Left to Their Own Defenses

Chad babysat Morgan for us last night so that we could go to the ward activity, which was an absolute blast! Well often times when he babysits there are at least 20 phone calls. "I'm bored", "I don't feel good", "when will you be home?" to name a few. When we got home there was the typical mess that we never have when we pay someone to babysit but hey we saved a few dollars. Then this afternoon while I was posting for the giveaway I found these pictures on the camera! How funny is this? I think it is hysterical and a pretty good was of keeping busy.

and the Winner Is...

I am having trouble getting these pictures in order but the winner is #17. Which is the last person to post a comment. So Camille's sister Rebecca congratulations! I hope you enjoy your little package of goodies. I will save on shipping because I only have to send them home with Camille the next time I see her; like tomorrow at church!!
Thanks to all my friends and family who played along with me!! It was fun....who knows maybe at 200 we can do it again?

A Simple Little Dress

My little Morgan is at an difficult age. You see she is almost 8 and well the height of a 10 year old. Her shoe size is 7 woman's. This makes it all difficult to find clothes that are age appropriate. The last few times we have looked for church clothes two things have happened. 1. We find what I so dearly refer to as "skank clothes". or 2. I spend a bloody fortune insuring she looks 8 years old. Morgan really needed a new dress and she requested green. I found this super cute pattern at www.thehandmadedress.net I loved the simplicity of this pattern. Morgan loved the little apron in the front. One of the greatest things about this pattern is that you can download them for people like me who have no ability to wait for things. I have already started the next one, it is brown and pink!!!

100th Post Giveaway!

This post marks a milestone for me. For anyone who knows me the fact that I even have a blog is sort of huge. I am completely computer stupid. I have wise friends who advise me as needed thankfully! My friend Sarah is the first person to introduce me to blogs, I was instantly hooked. After a few short weeks I ventured out and tried my hand at it. I have enjoyed all the ease in which I can stay in contact with friends and family. I love all the great ideas from some seriously talented people. And well to be honest the blogs I love the most have giveaways. So I thought I would try my hand and that too.
Here is the courier bag I made. It is super soft and completely washable. It fits really nicely. Thanks to my friend M. who modeled it for me. In the bag you can find a few of my favorite things. I will keep those a secret for the person who wins! OK, so let's have you leave a comment and on February the 28th I will draw a comment and announce a winner!

If you think 6 months is bad....

Another baby gift, hold on to your hat Allie B. this baby was born 9 months ago! I started making the cutest and hardest baby blanket ever! It is/was homemade chenille. For those of you who don't know what that is you place at least 4-5 layers of thin fabric, such as muslin, on top of each other then sew lines 3/4 of an inch apart. Over the entire blanket! Now let me assure you that the fabric slips, yes I used spray glue. That you use oodles and oodles of thread. That after you use a special tool, or even scissors to cut through all but one layer of fabric. Then you wash it and it gets all foofy and cute looking. OK I did all the sewing and then was doing the cutting when my stupid tool slipped and cut through all the layers making a huge hole!! I was so sad and tried for months to think of a way to fix it so that it would still be cute. If someone out there has an idea DO NOT TELL ME!! because I finally threw it away. Then I found this cute panel and decided a 9month old was the perfect age! She will grow with it and hey her big brother and sister can use it in church too!
Now for the exciting news!!!
This was my 99th post, and I told some friends and family that for my 100th post I would do a giveaway! So after asking several people and thinking hard about it I have decided to do a little bit of this and little bit of that!
So check back tomorrow for pictures of the giveaway...
...and a hint I am still sewing!

Is 6 Months Too Long?

Here is the latest blanket. I love the colors!!! It makes me think of Spring, I am desperate for Spring!!!

It's on the way Ali, I hope Lucy likes it!!!

Smooshy, Gooey, and Warm!

Kool Aid Play Dough

2 kgs. Kool-Aid
2 Cups of flour
2 Cups boiling water
1/2 Cup salt
2 Tbls. oil
Combine flour, salt, Kool-aid and oil; mix until water is boiling. Add water. Mix until cool enough for your kids to mix it themselves. This is part of the fun.

We made some this morning for Morgan and her very best friend Kate to play with. They actually played for almost 2 hours. That is good fun!
Then Camille, Chris's love made a creature. The girls felt the need to make matching creatures.

I can not wait for Chris to see this creature in his bedroom!

Psalms 37:3-7

3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgement as the noonday.

7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him

Will You Be My Valentine?

Making rosebuds out of Hershey kisses

They had to eat the whipped cream until the
got to the bubble gum. Chew and blow a bubble

Morgan checking out her Valentines
This was a perfect little party for Morgan's class. They had a ton of fun playing games, decorating cookies and making rosebuds. This holiday is a good fit for Morgan; she is kind and loving really only showing her stinky side on occasion!
This week I got a call from the Primary President, Brooke. She was calling to tell me a story about Morgan. WARNING FLAG! There was a new little girl introduced to the class last Sunday. The girl and her mother were quite nervous. When Brooked opened the door and introduced the little girl Morgan jumped up got a chair, opened it and set it by herself. She then told everyone she knew the new girl from school and invited the new girl to sit my her. Brooke said this set a tone for the rest of the class and then everyone was happy and welcoming. Here is the part that touched my heart. Brooked pointed out that this was the way all new kids should be welcomed into class. How they should make a little movie starring Morgan and send it to all the Primary kids. This touched me because Morgan is good at that. She has a gift for noticing others in need. She will go out of her way to help another. She can be shy in certain settings but will painfully extend herself if she notices someone else hurting.
I am thankful for a child who gets what LOVE is really all about!

Greek Festival

The long jump
Being silly, in his Chiton

The shot put

The whole 6th grade class participated in a Greek Olympics. They dressed in authentic Chitons (go ahead, pronounce it, I dare you) and did the Javelin/pencil throw, the Shot put/ball, wrestling/crab walk, and long jump/long jump. It was fun to watch. The teachers did a great time making it as real as possible. When Chad told me about it I asked if it was going to be a "real", he said yes. Then I told him that they were naked...well he did not thing being authentic was so important then. After they had a Greek lunch then watched Hercules. I think it was a better choice for 6th graders then decorating cookies!
